Léttsveit Reykjavíkur verður í Englandi dagana 4.-9. júní og heldur þar tvenna tónleika.
Þeir fyrri eru í Gloucester Cathedral þann 5.júní kl. 13 og þeir seinni í Holy Trinity Church í Stratford upon Avon þann 8. júní kl. 12. Aðgangur er ókeypis á báða tónleikana.
The Female Choir Léttsveit Reykjavíkur will be have two concerts in England this June. At Gloucester Cathedral on 5 June at 1pm and at Holy Trinity Church in Stratford upon Avon on 8 June at 12pm. Entry is free to both concerts.
The Female Choir Léttsveit Reykjavíkur was founded in 1995 and therefore celebrates it’s 20th anniversary this year. The choir’s annual spring concerts are held in Reykjavik and the choir also travels to other parts of Iceland or abroad every year. In June this year the choir will travel to England for the first time. The choir has performed at concerts in Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Poland, Cuba and the in the Scandinavian Countries. In 2004 a 90 minute documentary was made about the choir’s trip to Italy which was shown in cinemas and on Icelandic TV. The choir’s Christmas Concerts have been held most years in churches in Reykjavik from the beginning.Today Léttsveit Reykjavikur has 120 members, women from different domains of the society who all have one important thing in common: the joy of singing in harmony. The choir’s repertoire mainly includes popular music and Icelandic folk music and is particularly influenced by The choir’s projects and travels each year. Therefore The choir has gathered a large and varied collection of songs in the past 20 years. Conductor of Léttsveit Reykjavikur is Gísli Magna, who joined the choir in 2012. Piano player is Adalheidur Thorsteinsdottir, who has been with the choir from the beginning. Tómas R. Einarsson plays the bass.
